2003 combat jump in the 'Stan...?

To get combat jump wings was the objective. Much like the combat jump during the Iraq invasion where they took the airfield by helicopter and set up the drop zone then had the rest do a "combat jump" to get combat wings, if memory serves me correct that was another unit not the 82nd or 101st but some one out of Italy. The military, and the Army in particular, has gotten way to infatuated with doodads, ribbons and medals-Purple Heart for breaking your arm playing volleyball was one my niece told me about (she's was medic in the Army); the unit considered any injury while deployed to Iraq to be "in combat" since they were in a combat zone and the person would not be there if it wasn't so al injuries were "combat related". Cheapens the award for all those that gt or have one for actually being injured through enemy action or as "a direct result of enemy action" which is what it is supposed to be. Many retired and former Army friends really do get upset about how things are being handed out and it appears to be getting worse as time goes by. Those things are not candy to be handed out but should be earned.
