New York Jets--Why did they implode the 2nd half of last season?

What are the theories behind the Jets collapse the 2nd half of last season. They were doing so very well wtih Brett Favre, in first place, etc, etc. Then the second half of the season was a disaster and i think they didn't even make the playoffs. What happened?
